Healing the Climate with a Single Morning Breath
Climate change is now an urgent global issue, affecting every country, city and individual. Yet understanding and action to protect nature remain limited, even as the UN, governments, and organizations implement policies that often fall short of their goals. The problem is not only implementation methods; at its core, many of us lack inner awareness of our relationship with the natural world. This series of articles offers a small contribution on how parents and children can make a meaningful difference—starting with a simple daily practice, a single mindful breath each morning that reconnects us to the planet and inspires everyday choices that help reduce climate impact.

Part 7: Why a Conscious Breath in the Morning Can Make an Impact
Changing the world with a morning breath sounds surprising to many, while others might feel it is unrealistic. But why do I believe in this?
I have experienced this firsthand through teaching myself Qi practice and sharing it with my daughter. For a child, learning Qi through Tai Chi is difficult because I asked her to do it every day. I had faith, based on my own experience, that everything changes through regular practice; you don’t need to do too much all at once. After about four months, she noticed her lips were no longer dry—whereas before they were frequently chapped—and her spleen health improved. From that, I understood that everything changes with the right repetition, because repetition carves a mark, then a groove, until new patterns are born.
So, what if one person takes a conscious breath every day for years, and what if 1 to 2 billion people joined them? Surely, a miracle would happen.
Life is love. When you see the sunshine giving us energy, the plants giving us oxygen, and the sea providing salt and food, you realize every single thing in this life is giving to us and wants us to thrive. But right now, we don’t care; we do the exact opposite. The ocean gives us food and salt, and we give back plastic. Plants give us oxygen and nourishment, and we respond with urbanization and modernization. Life gives us an equal earth, yet we concentrate wealth and land into the hands of a few, which leads to conflict.
I believe that if everyone just does simple things every day—like taking a conscious breath, noticing bad emotions, or paying attention to minor changes in your body—and does them consistently every day, our lives and our world will change!
